In the human services program I have learned how ethics and values play fundamental roles in the profession when facing challenges, dilemmas and decision making in the field.

The National Association of Social Workers approaches ethics through a core set of values, which include service, dignity and worth of the person, social justice, integrity and competence.

Ultimately, we believe, the ethics taught in our curriculum and the ethics explained here will help foster the development of competent, successful human service professionals. If I were to apply this to a possible scenario while working in the field, I could place myself in the shoes of a caseworker faced with an ethical dilemma.
